Two Manchester United academy players react after meeting Ronaldo for the first time

Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest impact at Manchester United could be felt for years to come.

The superstar has achieved everything in the game and is a celebrity even at his own club.

Two of United’s academy players met him for the first time this week and posed for pictures with the Portuguese superstar.

One of these was England youth international defender Louis Jackson.

Jackson, 16, has already played for United’s under-18s side and is a very highly rated prospect.

He posted a picture next to Ronaldo’s car, with the first team forward, with a caption which read, ‘idol’.

Another player who shared a selfie with Ronaldo was under-16s forward Ethan Wheatley.

Wheatley began to make a name for himself on tour of Northern Ireland with United’s youth side this summer.

He scored an impressive winning goal in a tournament match which Ronaldo would have been proud of.

The young duo are talented prospects to watch for the future and meeting Ronaldo will make them even more determined to kick on with their careers.

With Ronaldo’s longevity showing no signs of slowing down, it is not impossible that either player could yet play alongside him for the first team if they make quick progress.

A handful of youngsters got the opportunity to train with Ronaldo earlier this month when he took his first training session, with ex-Real Madrid talent Alvaro Fernandez among them.

Having Ronaldo around is not just good for results, it creates an exciting buzz around the whole club.
